We’re suckers for a good ranking, so it’s pretty dang great that Toronto made the top 20 in the World’s Best Cities 2020 list. Let’s have a moment of gratuitous pride, okay?

The report was published by Resonance, who looked at cities in terms of place, product, people, prosperity, programming, and promotion. Someone take a really wild guess what their favourite letter is, please.

Within these metrics, everything from the number of yearly sunny days to Facebook check-ins to GDP was examined. They seemed to be pretty thorough in their investigation, and the only qualifier was that the city had to be over a million people.

So, where did we fall? Of the 100 cities included in the report, Toronto ranked high at #17. We were applauded for economic growth, immigration, and global investment. Resonance highlighted our rankings of both people and Global 500 companies.

It was mentioned that half of our population was foreign-born and overall highly-educated, which propelled the ranking up. Congrats on your education, guys! Having the seventh-most Global 500 headquarters in the world certainly didn’t hurt.

Resonance remarked that, with 100,000 new residents making Toronto home per year, we’re on track to be one of the largest cities in North America before too long.

For curiocity’s (hehe) sake, London came in #1. To check out the the World’s Best Cities report, click right here!
