Toronto is about to get a Giant Emoji art installation

Feeling like being extra fancy in the group chat? Replace your regular smiley face with a photo in front of a giant emoji art installation that’s coming to Toronto. Just announced by MOCA, this installation is part of their Age of You exhibition.

The emoji itself is the classic ‘thinker’, and its goal is to encourage passerby to ask questions about what it means to be an individual today. In fact, the entire point of the Age of You exhibition circles this idea.

The exhibition has been curated by Douglas Coupland, Shumon Basar and Hans Ulrich Obrist. The three of them are putting out a new book, The Extreme You, and have curated an exhibition to explore various facets of it.

Enough art talk, though. What you need to know is that there will be a sweet, giant emoji art installation in the Distillery District this weekend. Then, it will pop up around the city before returning to MOCA for the end of the exhibition.

Wanna feel weird about individuality in the present day, just for fun? Then head down to MOCA and check out the Age of You.
