The Weeknd donated half a million dollars to the Scarborough Health Network
Ya know, everyone always talks about how Drake is the king of Toronto. But we think The Weeknd might just be coming for his crown. Because this Scarborough born artist just made a massive donation to Toronto’s frontline workers. And let us tell you, we are impressed!
So how massive is massive? We’re glad you asked. The Weeknd just put down half a million dollars in donations. We’ll let you read that again. Half a million dollars. Whew, just imagine all the good that can be done with that kind of cash!
It’s an exciting day for #ScarbTO! Scarborough-born superstar @theweeknd is giving back to the community with a generous $500K donation in support of @SHNcares, our #frontlineheroes and our #COVID19 Emergency Fund: https://t.co/wa2pLSphkE#XOtoScarborough #CelebrateScarborough pic.twitter.com/nkkr6dyQJq

So the money went directly to the Scarborough Health Network in support of COVID-19 relief. And apparently, the sale of his popular XO face masks raised a ton of the funds.
“I was raised in Scarborough and felt it was important to give back to the community that raised me during the hard times of this pandemic,” he recently said.
We think we all can agree that he’s given back to Scarborough in a really big way! And if you’d like to follow his lead, you can donate to the Scarborough Health Network here. Don’t worry, no one expects you to match the amount he gave. But every dollar helps, right?
So thank you, Mr. Weeknd. Your generosity does not go unnoticed!
Stay healthy, folks!
