Sigh. Another closure. We’re getting real sick of these, y’all. Any guess what company is saying goodbye today? Alright, we’ll tell ya. This time, it’s Playdium. Yup, the spot you hit up in your childhood for an afternoon of blissful arcade games, go-karting, and mini-putting is closing their doors for good. Off in the distance we can hear the cries of middle-schoolers all over.

So the official announcement came on Tuesday, with a post on the Playdium Facebook Page. According to the post, the main reason behind the closure is a redevelopment of the area. Only the Mississauga location will be closing at this time, so you can still drive out to Brampton or Whitby for a day of fun.

Of course, we’re sure the financial troubles caused by the pandemic didn’t help. Back in June, Playdium’s parent company Cineplex announced a whopping $174 million in first quarter loses for the year. Oof. We can only imagine how much that number has gone up since then.

So we’re say goodbye to another GTA staple. The Mississauga Playdium will keep their outdoor facilities open until November 1st. So hurry in until then for one final day at the spot.
