The holidays are the time of giving. Which is why it saddens us to let you know that one of the city’s largest food banks, Daily Bread, has had to cancel all their upcoming holiday events. As you can probably guess, the reason behind the cancellation spree is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It just isn’t safe enough to face the risk of holding events, even if they’re for a good cause.

The events that were scheduled to take place include a drive-thru, a contactless food drive at the Etobicoke location, as well as their annual holiday food sort. But, of course, those are no-gos now.

However, you can still support the Daily Bread Food Bank this holiday season. Folks are welcome to give back in the form of monetary donations, or with food drop-offs to grocery stores and fire stations. The goal is to reach 400,000 pounds in food collections this month.

Given the food insecurity caused by the pandemic, there’s no better time to donate to the Daily Bread Food Bank. The non-profit is already planning on delivering 1.1 million pounds of food within the next four weeks, so every donation counts.
