‘Not-Amazon’ offers huge online marketplaces for you to shop local in Canada this season
There’s never been a more important time to shop local, and now that’s easier than ever thanks to a new website created by a Toronto local. Ali Haberstroh is the genius behind the platform, connecting Canadians to small businesses in their area. Yep, we’re talking about Not-Amazon.ca.
You may have already heard about Not-Amazon.ca, seeing as it’s gone viral and been featured in loads of prominent news sources. But we think it deserves even more hype. This incredible website was primarily created by and is run by one person alone, and it could be your one-stop-shop for all your holiday gifting needs.
As the title suggests, it is not Amazon. It was actually born in response to all the fire Amazon has been coming under this year. The retail giant has only grown in power and profit throughout the pandemic, so Not-Amazon.ca has come along to represent all the small local businesses in the game.
When you open up the platform, you’ll be met with a massive database of local small businesses in your area. At the moment, they’ve got a collection of places in Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, and Vancouver. Once you select your city, you can scroll down to view the collection as a whole, or browse by category.
You can even submit a local business you love if it’s not already on the list! Every store that’s features is offering either curb-side pickup or delivery (or both) during this crazy time.
On top of all that, the Toronto shop’s even got an area where you can donate to the Charity of the Week. This week they’re supporting The Native Women’s Resource Centre, who work tirelessly to provide resources to Indigenous women and their families.
So head online and check out Not-Amazon.ca today! We know we’ll be hitting them up for all our holiday gifting needs!
