Cineplex is closing all theatres across Canada amid COVID-19 pandemic

If you haven’t had your fill of not-so-happy news due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re sorry to say we’re here with are with a little more. Cineplex has just announced the closure of all their entertainment facilities across Canada due to COVID-19. This comes after the news of the NBA postponing, NHL suspension, and numerous other event cancellations.

The closure will include all of their Rec Room locations, Playdium locations, and 165 theatres nationwide. Whew, we just can’t seem to catch a break guys! Though with the growing concern surrounding the coronavirus, we can’t say we blame them. Everyone’s gotta do their part to stop the spread of this thing, and movie theatres are definitely not a safe haven from virus.

As of right now, they have predicted a reopening on April 2nd, but will continue to give updates as the pandemic progresses. So there’s a light at the end of this tunnel, guys!

In the meantime, there are tons of ways you can still keep yourself entertained while in self-isolation. Disney + has announced an early release of Frozen 2, you can take an online course for free from an Ivy League school, you can browse the Internet to no end without worrying about data overages. The possibilities are endless! So let’s all stay positive while we get through these trying time.
