It’s no secret that people have been getting creative while stuck at home these days. Well, one Canadian scientist took things to the next level with an at-home garden that puts the professionals to shame. Meet Lyanne Betit. This Ottawa-based garden lover is using her Instant Pot to perfect her planting.
Okay, so if you’re like us and don’t exactly have a green thumb, this hack could be a game-changer. Essentially, the heat of the Instant Pot creates an ideal environment for seeds to germinate. Through her hack, Betit was able to jump-start her at-home crop of peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, watermelon, and more. Not too shabby!

CBC Ottawa caught up with Betit earlier this year to ask her about her experience. Apparently, the scientist was not at all surprised by her project’s success.
“I expected it to work,” she told the news outlet. “I knew it was the perfect temperature for seedlings that grow in very hot countries … about 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.”
Betit fast tracks her plants by putting them on the yogurt setting of the appliance.
The gardener extraordinaire shared her process in the Edible Ottawa Facebook Group, where others have tried her method and also found success. It’s pretty impressive stuff, y’all!
