Stage 3 in Ontario may mean that most businesses are back up and running (with new COVID-19 regulations). But one area that hasn’t been approved to reopen is amusement parks. And one of the GTA’s favourite spots, Canada’s Wonderland, falls into that category.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Canada’s Wonderland isn’t allowed to reopen just yet. But what’s interesting is that the theme park itself is openly pretty unimpressed by that fact. According to CTV News, the park’s director of communications has stated that they’re “disappointed to hear that we still haven’t received approval to open.” And because of the delays in approval from the government, Canada’s Wonderland won’t be opening their water park this season either.

On top of the public statement of disappointment, the park has also outlined a fully comprehensive plan for reopening safely. It includes things like scheduling your visit, sanitization stations, and health screenings. The full plan can be found on their website here.

But still, all of that has not been enough to change the Ontario government’s mind. There are worries that the attraction would draw people in from other areas of the province, increasing the risk of spread of the virus to new regions. And there are also worries that, even with the park’s plan, it’s still not safe enough to allow the public to stop by this spot.

So what do you think? Should Canada’s Wonderland become the exception to the province-wide rules? Or should the health and safety of Ontario’s residents come before the entertainment that the place provides? Sound off in the comments!
