How does anyone even eat on a date? We’re so nervous, we’d be getting indigestion at the first tortellini. Okay, enough about us and more about the best restaurants to impress your date in Toronto! We’ve picked out the best spots from first date to anniversary dinner, because the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach. Well, it sure is for us.
Here are 10 restaurants sure to impress your date in Toronto!
Alrighty, we’re starting with one of the absolute best restaurants in the world here. If Alo can’t impress your date, you might need to get back on Tinder. This place has pretty much perfected French cuisine, and their cocktails and wine list are out of this world. The interior is positively dreamy, with flowers climbing mirrored walls and gold accents against whites and pastel blues. They start taking resos two months in advance and they fill up fast, so don’t sleep on it! It’s basically one of the fanciest date nights you’ll get in Toronto, so it’s perfect for a very special occasion.
Where: 163 Spadina Ave
Oretta is perfect if you’ve snagged a date with, well, eyeballs. The interior is stunning, and it’ll give you plenty to look at if the extended eye contact is making you nervous. The menu is Italian, which is sure to please almost anyone. You can do the Lady and the Tramp thing with the spaghetti for added romance! Also, it’s not going to be a super expensive dinner, because you don’t have to ball out every time. Well, if you can, go for it.
Where: 633 King St W
This Vancouver transplant is one of the hands-down most impressive sushi spots in the city. Miku specializes in Aburi sushi, which is briefly flame-grilled to bring out all those awesome flavours. As if the menu wasn’t swoon-worthy enough, the high ceilings of the stunning dining space will take your date’s breath away. Another gem? An outdoor patio for the warmer weather. The only thing more gorgeous than the perfectly plated food will be your date (wink wink).
Where: 10 Bay St #105
Antler has a rep as a seriously cozy go-to spot for birthdays and nights out. It’s warm, relaxing, and perfect for a little under-the-table hand holding action. The menu is local and meat-focused, with sides like wild cultivated sautéed mushrooms and lemon balm sea buckhorn berries. Each dish is thought out to the nines and puts a refined spin on Canadian cuisine. Don’t take our word for it- Antler is #25 of almost 7,000 Toronto restos on TripAdvisor!
Where: 1454 Dundas St W
Come to this spot for the skyline views, stay for the unreal food. If the more snazzy haute cuisine side is out of your date budget, head on over to the bistro for a more casual (but still mucho impressive) meal. The interior is all windows and warm lighting, so you can alternate gazing at the city and your beautiful better half.
Where: 1 Benvenuto Pl
So your date’s veggie, has allergies, or is gluten-free? Have no fear, Rasa is here! They’re known for being super accommodating for dietary restrictions, with amazing service and super-flavourful dishes to boot. Share some truffle gnudi, spicy ceviche, or charred broccoli. Stare lovingly into each other’s eyes to complete the mood.
Where: 196 Robert St
This tiny café is tucked into a laneway on Yorkville Avenue. As soon as you walk into Chabrol, something about it makes you want to lose track of time. Maybe it’s the floor to ceiling windows? Perhaps the glittery chandeliers? Or maybe it’s the super- intimate seating. Either way, you two are in your own little world here. Split the apple tart for a guaranteed second date.
Where: 90 Yorkville Ave
Paired up with a carnivore? Take them to STK! This steakhouse has ultra-luxurious decor and intimate round booths that are perfect for a little romantic banter. Not that we really know how romantic banter goes… The price is fair for a steakhouse, and the menu ranges from ribeyes to Nova Scotia lobster. The delicious cocktail menu should help get things going, too.
Where: 153 Yorkville Ave
This swanky Chinese spot is miles above the kind of Chinese we normally eat, and it’s sure to impress. Not only is the food wicked, but you can book into the private karaoke rooms if you want to assault the eardrums of your pals. So this might not be the best place if your date is tone deaf, but it’s super fun if you’re looking to spice up your regular ol’ date night or transition right into something fun after dinner.
Where: 620 King St W
Want to seem like you’re 100% more calm, cool, and collected than you feel? Sneak up to this speakeasy to start the night with an incredibly intimate vibe. The decor is chic, the lighting is subdued, and the tasting menus are to die for. This is a perfect spot if you’re trying to impress a cocktail fiend, because it’s definitely drink-focused. Cozy up on the floral couches for some easier casual leg touch access, or sit up at the bar to watch the bartenders craft your bevvies.
Where: 849 Dundas St W, up the stairs of La Palma
