PHO METRO
We’re suckers for a name that rhymes, and we’re also suckers for this hidden gem. Well, it’s getting less hidden by the year, thanks to their consistently delicious offerings. The price is a little higher than other hole-in-the-wall spots, but people wouldn’t be lining up here for years if it wasn’t worth it. Stars of the menu? Anything with chicken or beef- the meat is always perfect.

HANOI 3 SEASONS
We’d eat pho in every season if it’s from here. Sorry, we’re having a phoking hard time coming up with good jokes. Anyway, this go-to has two locations, each with delicious dishes. Touches of ginger and lemongrass liven the broth up, and the noodles are on-phoint. Heheh.

THE PHO RESTAURANT
Points off for name creativity, points on for letting you customize your pho. Mix and match broth and toppings at this chic spot to create your ideal bowl. Then, lament that it’s in Markham, because you’ll want to come back. Hey, unless you live in Markham. Score!

VIT BEO
This more modern take on Vietnamese doesn’t have a big menu, but they’re nailing the whole quality over quantity thing. You’ll pick between veggie, beef, or a reduced aromatic beef stew broth. Pair with one of their unique appetizers (we recommend the “shaking” beef) for a guaranteed tasty meal.

PHO LINH
This soup house isn’t the fanciest, but it’s a definite go-to for cheap classics. You can snag a filling bowl for $8 or $9, which means you might have a little bit of a wait on the weekends. Worth it, though! Our fave is the spicy noodle soup, which is a Saturday/Sunday special. Careful, because on Sundays they make it super hot!
Update: The day after we released this guide, Pho Linh was shut down for a health code violation. All good things come to an end. If it reopens, enter with caution.

PHO TIEN THANH
While you’re busy trying to pronounce “thanh”, do yourself a favour and order a bowl. Their small serving is anything but small! We love the brisket pho, but the veggie options are also solid. It’s cash only, but we think the potential ATM trip will prove worthwhile.
