Boy, oh boy. This has got to be one of the biggest wins of 2020 so far. In a news release sent out today, Dave’s Hot Chicken, the Los Angeles-based street food powerhouse, announced it’s coming to Canada. Woohoo!!

Known for its Nashville Hot Chicken, this spot has become the latest street food sensation, following in the footsteps of Chipotle and Blaze Pizza.

According to the release, the deal comes as an agreement was made between John Bitove and Dave’s Hot Chicken to open 30 locations in Canada. If you recognize the name John Bitove, it’s because he runs Obelysk Foods Ltd…oh, and he’s also the founder of the Toronto Raptors.

So, it looks like the initial focus on Dave’s Hot Chicken locations in Canada will be in British Columbia and Ontario. After that, they’re planning on going all the way across Canada. If you don’t know anything about Dave’s Hot Chicken, well, here’s a quick rundown.

It was founded by four pals in LA in 2017 and quickly catered to massive crowds and lines. They currently have 100 expansion franchises set to open around the US so obviously it’s been a massive success. The CEO of Dave’s, Bill Phelps, also founded Wetzel’s Pretzels and was an early investor in Blaze Pizza. Smart guy.

No word on when these locations will actually be popping up, but we’ll keep you in the loop!
