Check out the brand new location of one of TO’s favourite ramen spots
Calling all ramen lovers! If you’ve ever been to Ikkousha on Queen West, get excited because a brand new location has opened just down the street! And this one specializes in chicken! We’ll remind you, Ikkousha earned a spot on our Best Ramen in Toronto guide.
Ikkousha is a Japanese-born international restaurant with a philosophy that aims to give every single customer the same experience. That means whether you’re at one of their Toronto locations or any of the locations around the globe, you’ll be met with the same high-quality standard of food and decor as the OG store in Japan.
Each of the stores specializes in a specific type of meat. The one you’re probably already a huge fan of has been serving only pork dishes. The new one will be focused on chicken. If you’re not sure which you prefer, lucky you cause they’re only steps away from one another! Why not stop by both? Y’know, for research.
The decor is bright and welcoming, with super friendly staff to match!
Okay, let’s get to the good stuff- the food, duh. Their soup broth is slow-cooked for a minimum of 24 hours in a method called “Yobimodosi.” This gives it the deliciously unique flavour that you won’t find anywhere else. Whether you hit up the pork or the chicken location, there are tons of delicious toppings available to add to your bowl.
Plus, they have loads of drinks (we can’t get through spicy ramen without them, but we’re weenies). Their two most popular are Calpis and Ramune. Calpis is non-carbonated and has a more milky and slightly acidic flavour. Ramune is basically a bubbly Japanese lemonade. Mmmm, who needs our boring soda when these are available?
For an extra little bonus, be sure to stop by between now and Mach 26 for 5 FREE pieces of gyoza with every ramen order. Don’t have to tell us twice.
See you there?
