You’ve got to try this delightful seafood resto for more than just the halibut. See what we did there…helluvit? Cut us some slack on the seafood puns, please. At Honest Weight, their fish is so fresh they’ll have you booking a flight to PEI in no time!

So, what’s the catch?

This New England-style fishmonger in the Junction creates a very welcoming and homey atmosphere. Home is where the food is, obviously.

We love their giant black and white picture of an old seafood counter, it’s all warm and nostalgia-y. Cozy up to a high wooden countertop with intimate space for two or a cozy booth.

Honest Weight’s owner Victoria Bazan and Head Chef Jordan Gooch are very passionate about responsibly sourcing delicious seafood. They truly love their neighbourhood. A lot. So much so that they’re proud to share any information about their products to guests. Now that’s what we call honesty, people!

So if you know your seafood and want the details, chat ’em up. Or maybe you’ve yet to nail the cook on your own fish and want some tips- we’re sure chef Jordan will share.

Open since 2015, Honest Weight does some serious experimentation. Their menu changes regularly to always keep you guessing. However, fresh, perfect seafood is always going to be the staple here.

They love surprises. Who doesn’t love surprises?

Many of their dishes celebrate a multitude of cuisines. First, there’s the Bouillabaisse (pronounced “boo-yah-base” – there, we know some French!). It’s a traditional Provençal fish stew. C’est magnifique!

Or, perhaps you can try their Peruvian-style ceviche to share with your buds. If you’re feeling more close to home, there’s fresh PEI mussels and oysters to satisfy your maple leaf pride!

It’s also okay to be choosy! Just like the supermarket, you can “pick yer fish” off their menu. We don’t know what Rockfish tastes like, but we’re dying to find out.

If you’re a bruncher like us, then we recommend the smoked salmon quiche. We could honestly eat the entire pie. We’re not ashamed.

Their retail shop and food counter look just as beautiful as the picture on their wall. You can grab all of your seafood favourites to take home or for lunch. Bringing fish to work that actually smells good in the lunchroom? Now we’re talking!
