Toronto’s most highly anticipated film event has just released more details! That’s right, TIFF 2020 is on its way people. And now we know more about what to expect in terms of venues, ticket sales, and pricing. As you probably know already, the festival had to do some major restructuring thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. But they’ve still pulled off a pretty amazing set-up. Now we’re gonna tell ya all about it.

So let’s start with the venues. In a regular year, King Street pretty much gets shut down and most of the festival takes place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Needless to say, that kind of crowding is a no-no now. But don’t worry, TIFF 2020 will be just as fun as ever.

They’ll still be doing some socially-distanced screenings at the Lightbox, as well as at Isabel Bader Theatre on the University of Toronto campus. On top of those screenings, there will also be films that are shown at drive-in theatres like the Visa Skyline Drive-In at CityView and the RBC Lakeside Drive-In at Ontario Place.

And the last of the in-person screenings will take place at the West Island Open Air Cinema at Ontario Place, where folks can enjoy the films in their very own little lawn pods.

Of course, there will also be some digital screenings as well. TIFF is releasing a digital platform called Bell Digital Cinema, where folks can catch flicks from home.

Now, the price of a ticket will vary from $19 – $69, depending on which venue and how many people you’re going with. Ticket sales will be open to the public on September 5th, so make sure you log on and nab yours then. TIFF tickets are always a pretty hot sell, so stay on top of that so you don’t miss out!

And until then, we’ll be watching old TIFF selections and waiting excitedly for this year’s film festival to begin. Pass the popcorn!
