TIFF 2020 just dropped its highly anticipated festival lineup
Every year, the Toronto International Film Festival is one of the most highly anticipated film events in the entire world. And even amid a global pandemic, this year is no different. Which is why we’re so excited that TIFF 2020 has just officially dropped their September festival lineup. It might be a little smaller than usual, but there are definitely some movies on here that you will not want to miss.
So some of the titles had already been hinted at or announced. We found out about the opener, Spike Lee’s David Byrne’s American Utopia, a little while ago. But now that we’ve got the full list, we are even more excited than ever for the festival to begin.

Instead of the usual 300+ films that TIFF has to offer, the 2020 event will feature a lean, mean, 50 pieces of cinema in total. Some of the highlights include Francis Lee’s Ammonite, which stars Kate Winslet, and Saoirse Ronan in a 19th-century love story.
There is also a lot of chatter about Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland stars Frances McDormand exploring the “vast landscape of the American West.” Oh, and the wonderful Viggo Mortensen will be presenting his directorial debut in Falling; a film he also stars in about a gay man caring for his conservative father. The full list of film screenings and events can be found here.
So which selection are you most excited for? There are so many great flicks lined up that we don’t even know where to begin. Let us know your favourite picks in the comments! Then mark your calendars, ’cause September 10th cannot come fast enough.
When: September 10th – September 19th
