CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada is now ‘Movie Night in Canada’
Well, the NHL season has been suspended, but that’s old news. New (and better) news is that CBC has turned Hockey Night in Canada, the country’s most beloved Saturday night television pastime, into Movie Night in Canada.
Obviously, COVID-19 leading to the indefinite suspension of the NHL has put a damper on plenty nights of entertainment, but worry no more! The movie nights kicked off this past weekend with both of the Bon Cop, Bad Cop flicks, but this weekend will air Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story. Fitting, to say the least.
Here is the current schedule for CBC’s Movie Night in Canada lineup:
March 21: Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story @ 7 PM; Goalie @ 9 PM
March 28: Hyena Road @ 7 PM; The Right Kind of Wrong @ 9 PM
April 4: Race @ 7 PM; Across the Line @ 9 PM
April 11: Hector and the Search for Happiness @ 7 PM; Dr. Cabbie @ 9 PM
Quick note, if you don’t recognize the aforementioned titles, that’s probably because they are Canadian-made or heavily featuring Canadian actors. Hey, why not take those newly-free Saturday nights to support your fellow Canucks in the arts?
