Guide: 8 activities to Partake in to start 2021 off the right way
There’s nothing like a brand-spankin’ new year to motivate us to learn something new or start a project we’ve been meaning to get to for who knows how long. January is especially great for these things since the weather is overall still a little chilly, the days are short, and we find ourselves feeling the need for something to do aside from bingeing another series on Netflix.
Whether you’re handy, crafty, or more academically inclined, there’s something for everyone on this list of things to try in 2021!
Learn a new language
Don’t be too intimidated by this one, because learning a new language in this modern age is actually pretty simple thanks to the many courses and apps available to use on the good ol’ internet. Whether you want to start with something more popular like French or Spanish or are going to try your hand at Greek or Mandarin, you can choose from hundreds of languages on apps like Duolingo or Babbel. ¡Vámonos!
Refurbish old furniture
Whether you pick up a vintage piece at your local thrift store or have an old dresser that needs some love, refinishing furniture is oddly satisfying and can render some beautiful results. Plus, it can be as time-consuming (or not) as you want it to be, and you can always take breaks in between coats of paint!
Give your house a mini makeover
Speaking of paint, why stop at furniture? A great way to freshen up your home and brighten up a room is with a coat or two of paint. Trying your hand at painting requires some patience and precision, but is rewarding once it’s finished! For an extra touch, try adding new cupboard door handles to make your kitchen feel brand new.
Try your hand at creating new recipes
There’s really no end to all the possibilities when you’re cooking. You can completely transform a basic recipe with just a few ingredients, so why not expand that spice cupboard and come up with a signature dish? If you need some inspiration, we often turn to Chopped to see what amazing things can be done with whacky ingredients.
Introduce a new workout to your fitness routine
Maybe you’re a weight-lifting pro but you can’t bend down and touch your toes. Or maybe you’re bendy like a pretzel but you’re out of breath after climbing a flight of stairs (it happens to the best of us). There’s no time like the present to try out some new exercises in the comfort of your home – that way you’ll be a seasoned pro by the time gyms and fitness studios reopen!
Start a garden from seed
Now, depending on where you live, January might be a *little* early for starting your seeds, but in places with a longer growing season, you can get away with it! As long as you have a couple of empty egg cartons, soil, and the seeds of your choosing, you can start a garden. Once it’s finally warm enough to transplant those babies outside, you’ll be well on your way to a fruitful harvest by summer!
Learn to knit, crochet, or cross-stitch
You may not know this, but there’s actually no rule stating that you have to make an entire sweater or blanket if you’re learning how to knit. Studies show that knitting (or really anything in the knitting category) can reduce blood pressure, help with depression and anxiety, and increase a sense of well-being, AKA, it’s relaxing as heck. If it turns into something wearable, great. If not, well at least your blood pressure is back down to where it should be!
Try swapping out your go-to brews for craft non-alcoholic beer
Not only is trying all these list items a wonderful way to maintain your zen, but they’re also made more enjoyable with a freshly-cracked craft beer in hand. Would we normally recommend drinking while you paint your home or try aerial yoga? Maybe not – but with Partake Brewing’s craft non-alcoholic, super low-calorie beer, you can treat yourself to a cold brew without losing focus on your new projects, or enjoy a beer after you exercise without adding on a ton of extra calories. You can choose from 5 different styles, so no matter your preference, they’ve got a beer for you.
So kick-off the new year with some new projects, and make sure to reward yourself with Partake’s delicious craft beer. Find out where to pick up a case using their store locator, or shop online and get it delivered!
