Support local restaurants with Canada Takeout Day on April 15th
We’re kind of having our own takeout month here in the at-home office, but it’s still nice to see that Canada Takeout Day will be starting up on Wednesday, April 15. This new initiative is intended to help out restaurants big and small across Canada.
And, the best part about this offer is that it is truly nationwide. From the Yukon to PEI, there are restaurants to check out all across Canada. So, whether you’re in downtown Toronto or the outskirts of Whitehorse, you can look forward to helping out your community simply by getting takeout!
Which is easy as pie, since there are quite literally hundreds of restaurants participating. So, chances are high that no matter what you’re craving you’ll find something on there to match. Personally, we might just have to order from a few different places and create our own buffet at home.
Not sure how to even start looking for your new go-to takeout spot? Look no further than Breaking Bread. It’s an awesome platform that will help connect you to local businesses that are open to serving you during the COVID-19 crisis!
We also recommend checking out Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, which is doing a streaming event in support of Canada Takeout Day. That will feature names like Jim Cuddy, Alan Doyle, Ed Robertson, Barney Bentall, and Tom Cochrane, with more acts being constantly added. Plus, some big names from around Canada’s culinary scene have signed on to the cause. Chef Vikram Vij (Vancouver), Ivana Raca (Toronto), and chef Tyrone Welchinski (Winnipeg) have all made statements encouraging people to take part in the campaign.
Canada Takeout Day officially kicks off tomorrow on Wednesday, April 15th. Happy eating, folks!
