This Toronto hospital was ranked as one of the best in the world

Toronto hospitals are on a roll when it comes to rankings. The World’s Best Hospitals list for 2024 has been released and this Toronto healthcare facility came in the top 10.

In partnership with Statista, Newsweek has released its annual ranking of the world’s best hospitals. The list includes 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries, according to the organizers.

“The data is organized by nation but also lists the top 250 hospitals worldwide, the top 10 of which we’ve highlighted—particularly their intriguing use of artificial intelligence to advance medical discoveries,” states Newsweek’s Global Editor in Chief Nancy Cooper.

Scores are “based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction.”

Metrics such as hygiene and patient/doctor ratio are also considered. A Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), standardized questionnaires done by patients, count too.

Now as for which hospital came out on top, two from the U.S took first and second place – Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

But as for Canada, Toronto General – University Health Network came in third. It is the only Canadian hospital in the top 10.
