Toronto’s expecting its warmest St. Patrick Day in years & it will be a sunny 17°C

Spring is officially less than a week away, but looks like it will be making an early appearance this week in Toronto. While it may not feel like it today, we will be getting 17°C weather later this week.

According to Environment Canada, the week will kick off with clouds, and a high of 5°C on Monday. Temperatures will drop by this evening, and there will be periods of light snow starting around midnight.

Light snow will continue into Tuesday morning, ending in the afternoon then cloudy, and another day of 5°C weather. By Wednesday, sunny days will kick in and there will be a sharp temperature increase as it goes up to a high of 14°C.

And Thursday, aka St. Patrick’s Day, is going to be the warmest day this week, as the temperature will soar up to 17°C. The warmth, sadly, won’t last. By Friday and into the weekend, expect rain and colder weather with highs around 5°C again.

But, this will be the warmest St. Patrick’s Day in years.

“The luck of the Irish will truly be felt Thursday, where temperatures are forecast to reach the mid to upper teens,” said Kelly Sonnenburg, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. “For some, this will be the warmest St. Patrick’s Day in over 10 years.”

According to the Weather Network, the seasonal daytime high is around 4°C with an overnight low of -4°C.

“Toronto is currently forecast to hit 16°C, and we’d have to go back to St. Patrick’s Day of 2011 and 2010 when the temperatures reached 15.1°C and 17.7°C respectively. This would also be Toronto’s first double-digit daytime high on March 17th since 2016,” stated the Weather Network.

While it won’t be the warmest St. Patrick’s Day ever, it will still be quite mild out for the city this time of year. So definitely get out there on Thursday, especially before the seasonal weather returns on the weekend.
