Winter isn’t over yet though it may feel like it is – especially with the risk of thunderstorms just around the corner. We’re ditching the snow this week for some stormy spring-like weather as Toronto faces a risk of thunderstorms on Tuesday.
According to Environment Canada, clouds will take over Toronto skies beginning around noon with 40% chance of showers. Rain is expected to make way throughout the day with a risk of thunderstorms late this afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to increase throughout the day, reaching a high of 16°C, which is just 3°C degrees short of breaking the city record.

Environment Canada Weather Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson told Curiocity that if temperatures were to climb, we could break a 20-year record which currently stands at 18.5°C.
But as of now, it looks like record-breaking numbers are out of the picture.
What does stand out though is the thunderous rainy activity forecasted, especially considering it is still winter.
“Any thunderstorm activity on Tuesday wouldn’t come close to matching the intensity or coverage of the tremendous late-February storms we saw last week, but rumbles of winter thunder are a conversation-starter either way.” said The Weather Netowkr.
Just last week Toronto faced what The Weather Network called a “rare February thunderstorm” as it isn’t something seen at that time.
But like always, the messy weather is expected to be short lived as showers will end around midnight.
Enjoy the sunny weather and high temperatures while it lasts. The rest of the week is expected to return to normal with more rain and snow forecasted though the weekend.
