Pearson Airport’s control tower was apparently the place to be when it came to catching the moment the total solar eclipse happened.

Pearson shared a video on social media writing, “This is what the solar eclipse looked like from Toronto Pearson’s control tower!”

The video shows darkness falling across the city-wide view in a time-lapse, capturing the rare moment.

Many were wondering if the eclipse was going to cause disruptions to flights but the International Airport made sure to keep guests up to date on the day of the eclipse.

Pearson posted on X writing, “At the airport, we are just outside the path of totality but expect to experience 99 percent of the eclipse. We don’t expect the eclipse to cause disruptions to the 69 arriving and 64 departing flights scheduled between 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. today.”

“However, we expect traffic to be backed up along the major highways leading to the airport during the eclipse. If you’re travelling out of Toronto Pearson today, you may want to consider leaving extra early to give yourself enough time to catch your flight.”

No major disruptions and a great view of the total solar eclipse – a win-win for Pearson Airport.
