Toronto’s getting an interactive Nordic Lights exhibition by the waterfront next week

Something magical is coming to the Harbourfront Centre this month. An immersive light experience straight from Scandinavia will light up the waterfront starting next week, with six glowing displays for you to explore.

The interactive exhibition, called Nordic Lights, will feature six interactive light works from artists from Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.

Harbourfront Centre has shared some photos of the displays as a preview of what to expect. You can get up close to the glowing structures or lie underneath them for a unique view.

The displays will light up from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day and will be positioned at different locations throughout Harbourfront Centre’s 53,000 square foot outdoor space.

This interactive exhibit is co-produced by Fjord Studio (Oslo), the team behind the groundbreaking Norwegian light festival FJORD OSLO, so you know it’s going to be spectacular.

Nordic Lights marks the beginning of Harbourfront Centre’s Nordic Bridges year-long initiative, which will showcase an “assortment of multidisciplinary contemporary art, culture, and ideas” all year long.

Each Nordic Bridges event spotlights a different Nordic country, through dance performances, theatre, live concerts, gallery shows, and more.

The free show is the perfect activity for a winter night. While we may not be able to experience art from the warmth of an indoor gallery just yet, there are still plenty of things to do in Toronto right now that are just as entertaining.
