These Toronto museums are hosting spooky, after-dark tours for Halloween

Need a last-minute scare? If you’ve already screamed your way through Toronto’s haunted houses, it might be time to try something a little more… historic. This Halloween, some of Toronto’s History Museums are still hosting after-dark tours that shed light on Toronto’s spooky past.

Step beyond the jump scares and fog machines for a night of real ghost stories, eerie artifacts, and centuries-old mysteries.

These tours blend history and hauntings, guiding you through the city’s darker chapters from tales of tragic spirits to whispers of long-forgotten facts.

After Dark Tours: The Unexplained at Colborne Lodge

Head to the Colborne Lodge in High Park and visit the gravesite of John and Jemima Howard.

“Explore ideas about death and the afterlife from the 1800s and hear true tales of paranormal activities,” shares organizers.

This is your chance to experience some of the museum’s darkest stories.

Some of the event is held outdoors, so dress accordingly.

When: Oct. 28 to 31, 2025
Time: 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Where: Colborne Lodge Museum — 11 Colborne Lodge Dr.
Cost: $18, plus tax

Montgomery’s Inn Lantern Tours

Montgomery’s Inn welcomes all after dark to uncover eerie tales about its past.

“Visitors will explore the historic house and the Islington burying grounds, learn about Victorian death practices, and find new ways to connect with Toronto’s past,” shares organizers.

“This guided tour of the historic house will be followed by a walking tour of the nearby Islington Burying Grounds. Following the walking tour, guests will return to the historic house for refreshments by the fire.”

When: Oct. 30, 2025
Time: 6 to 8 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: Montgomery’s Inn — 4709 Dundas St. W.
Cost: $15, plus tax
