Toronto is looking for local heroes and you could be one of them

Everyone knows now’s the time to support local. But one Toronto neighbourhood is making that mission fun. The Roncesvalles Village Local Hero campaign is all about highlighting the everyday superheroes who are going above and beyond to support the community during this critical time. The people who are, literally, local heroes.

This bright and vibrant social media campaign originally launched back in November and went viral at the time. Now that Ontario is in yet another lockdown the Roncevalles Village BIA resurrected things. It’s a great way to combat the sad reality that many Ontario businesses may not survive another lockdown without some extra support.

The Roncesvalles Village Local Heroes campaign just named their first local hero! His name is Kemal Kurtoglu, aka King Kemal according to the campaign. A crazy cool superhero comic book cover was created to celebrate him, which he’ll get to keep a one-of-a-kind printed version of for himself.

If you’d like the chance to be the next Roncesvalles Village Local Hero all you have to do is follow a few easy steps. Shop local in the Roncy BIA then post a picture of your purchases or experience with the hashtag #LocalRoncyHero. It’s that simple! A new winner will be picked each week.

So if you didn’t have enough reason to support local, hopefully, this cool initiative will give you that extra push. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a little local shopping to do…
