A groovy folk music festival will take over Toronto Islands this month

It’s time to get groovy, Toronto! Soak up the last bits of August sun at a new, one-of-a-kind music festival on the island.

The Toronto Folk Festival will be taking over Ward’s Island on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24, and it’s set to be a grand summer bash!

That’s two full days of live performances from local acts, including Quique Escamilla, Nicolette & The Nobodies, and El Ceibo Folklore, plus many more — all taking place at The Ward’s Island Association Clubhouse.

Come rain or shine, festival-goers can enjoy authentic indie folk tunes, dance performances from groups like Mexican Legacy Dancers, lawn games, and delicious plates of food, too.

Gates open at 10:30 a.m. on both days, with music starting an hour later at 11:30 a.m. How to get there? Grab the Wards Island Ferry at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, or catch a water taxi for a quicker ride.

The vibes will be going until 9 p.m. on both days, giving you enough time to meet new faces, connect with the community, and boogie down a little bit.

With tickets starting at $38, this is a perfect family-friendly event for everyone. Grab your tickets via Eventbrite and tune up those banjos!
