Toronto has an Olympic size pool & it’s open for the summer

Did you know that Toronto is home to a massive Olympic-sized pool? Well after years of closure, it is officially open to the public this summer.

Donald D. Summerville Outdoor Olympic Pool complex is located right on the beach, at Woodbine Park.

The complex is home to a 50-metre Olympic-sized pool, a 25-metre training pool and a separate diving pool with five and 10-metre diving platforms.

According to the city back in 2022, staff found “significant damage to liners” in the 25-meter training pool and 50-metre Olympic pool, caused by winter weather.

Therefore the city didn’t open the pool for the 2022 season. After a year or so of repairs and additional work to improve the overall state of the pool, the city officially opened it back up to the public on June 28th, 2024.

Back in May, in an email to Curiocity, the City of Toronto assured that repair work continued on the Olympic pool and was right on track to reopen following their timeline.

“State-of-good-repair work continues at Donald D Summerville pool. The work schedule remains on track and the facility will open for the summer 2024 season,” shared the city.

Per the City, all pools’ full schedules began at all locations on June 28th, 2024.

Now who’s ready to cool off poolside?
