If you’ve looked outside today, then you’re seein’ what I’m seein’. Yep, Mother Nature has blessed us with the most amount of powder, and it’s time to take advantage of it. Toronto has over 25 tobogganing hills that are not only guaranteed to provide a great time but are also marked as safe by the city.
Bundle up, and let’s go.
No matter where you are in Toronto, there’s a tobogganing hill for you. The hills span from Mississauga to Scarborough, with a select few in the core of the city.
According to the City of Toronto, “We inspect the tobogganing hills throughout the winter. Hills may close if conditions are deemed unsafe for tobogganing. Other hills in Toronto that are not listed on this webpage may be unsafe and may have hazards such as trees, rocks, and stumps, or may lead to rivers or roads.”
Here’s the full list of where you can go:
Of course, there are safety measures you should take before venturing off to the hills, such as checking the hill for ice, trees, rocks, bumps, fences, and bare spots, and making sure there is plenty of room to stop at the bottom of the hill, away from rivers, roads, or railroads.
Warm gear is a must as well, and make sure you are using a proper sled and not something like a sheet of plastic.
Finally, the City lays out how to toboggan safely:
Happy tobogganing, Toronto! And be safe.
