A timeline for Toronto’s cherry blossom peak has been revealed

Cherry blossom enthusiasts, the time is nearly here. Cherry blossom season in Toronto is arguably one of the most beautiful times in our city. Many parks all over Toronto burst with pink and white blooms, and the window to check them out is typically pretty small, so you need to act quickly.

Steven Joniak, also known as Sakura Steve, monitors the progress of the cherry blossoms in High Park, using his blog as a local guide in Toronto.

According to Joniak’s latest post, the recent rush of warmer weather has moved along the progression, and we have an estimate of dates for the blossoms’ peak.

“With double-digit days forecast for the next week or so, they should continue to progress and develop into Stage 4 over the next couple of weeks,” shares Joniak.

“I predict the trees will bloom in High Park between April 29 and May 9,” Joniak’s post continues.

While the predictions from Sakura Steve are usually pretty accurate, major changes in the weather, like heatwaves or cold spells, can affect the dates. But if things keep going this way, you can mark your calendar for this time frame.

High Park is, of course, one of the most popular spots to see cherry blossoms, but there are many other spots in Toronto if you’re not nearby, such as:

  • Birkdale Ravine
  • Broadacres Park
  • Cedar Ridge Park
  • Cedarvale Park
  • Centennial Park
  • Cherry Street and Villiers Street
  • Edwards Gardens
  • Exhibition Place
  • High Park
  • Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre
  • John P. Robarts Research Library
  • Trinity Bellwoods Park
  • University of Toronto Scarborough Campus
  • Woodbine Park
  • York University

The countdown is on, Toronto!
