The Toronto International Film Festival officially kicks off this week, bringing A-list stars, packed premieres, and plenty of starstruck fans to the city. But if you’re hoping to snag the best view of the red carpet, TIFF fan zones are the place to be. Here’s everything you need to know about the free fan experience.
Fans have the amazing opportunity to see their favourite stars walk the red carpet from controlled access areas, near the hotspots. There are a number of fan zones you can hop right into:
Now this part is important! Not everyone will have access to the fan zones, but that’s because tickets are required for entry.
Luckily, they are free and released via Ticketmaster one day before the event, with sales closing at 6 a.m. the day of the event or at least whenever the capacity of the fan zone has been reached.
There’s a limit of one ticket per person per fan zone. These are non-transferable. It’s important to note that Rogers, Peroni, and RBC fan zones may operate differently, and entry may be limited.
Now, if you didn’t get a fan zone ticket via Ticketmaster, a rush line will be available for festival attendees. This will only happen once ticketholders have entered the fan zone and if there’s capacity. Admission will be based on how many tickets were remaining at the time the fan zone went off-sale.
This will take place about two hours before the screening starts. Be sure to get to the fan zone early, as reserved access is no longer guaranteed an hour before the screening.
Fan zones will close about 20 minutes before a screening starts.
And please, follow the rules!
Bags will be checked, and you can bring water bottles, cellphones, purses, tote bags, and fanny packs.
You can’t bring any of the following items:
Have fun, stay safe, and get a picture of Channing Tatum for us!
Happy TIFF, Toronto.
