This West Van home for sale has an iconic architect, a Koi pond & sunken 6-car garage

We don’t want to admit this but we’re kind of home elitists without a cause by now. Sure, you can drop $10M+ on a cookie-cutter home in West Van, but where’s the style, where’s the funk? Well, we’ve found it, and it comes from one of Canada’s most iconic architects. Let’s check it out.

The home is located at 455 Keith Road, in the Sentinel Hill neighbourhood of West Vancouver. Built in 1983, the design comes from none other than Arthur Erickson, who is maybe the most important architect to set up shop in Greater Vancouver. That guy’s CV is like a who’s who of classic Vancouver buildings, from the SFU Campus to the Waterfall Building.

Of course, he’s also the person behind some of Vancouver’s most unique houses, and 455 Keith Road is no exception. With a focus on natural light and immersion in the landscape, the exterior of the home honestly looks like it was built last year. Heck, it’s even got massive sliding doors for easy indoor/outdoor living in the summer.

Meanwhile, the interior of the home has stayed up to date, but without erasing Erickson’s original vision. At 6,600 sq. ft., the home features 5 bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, and ample entertaining space. We’d probably convert one of these to like a theatre room, but that’s our fantasy.

Besides, there are a few rare and unique touches that more than make up for it. Outside, you’ll find ample green space, including a koi pond and a garden, alongside a swimming pool for those summer dips. And if you’re working on a car collection look no further, thanks to a sunken 6-car garage illuminated by a skylight.

With a price tag of $6.99M, this West Van home doesn’t come cheap. But, in a city where you can throw a rock and hit a $5M property (don’t do this), we think this is a standout offering. For more info, check out the listing here!
