This stunning new Storm Water Quality Facility is transforming Toronto’s waterfront

The exciting saga that is the Toronto waterfront transformation continues with a structure that looks like it could be plucked straight out of a sci-fi movie. An incredible Storm Water Quality Facility on Cherry St is the latest development to hit the city. If you ask us, this building has got all the makings of a major city landmark.

So let’s start with the aesthetics of the place. That’s the fun part, right? The Cherry St Storm Water Quality Facility looks, as we said, like it’s straight out of a movie. The design is inspired by other infrastructure icons like the R.C. Harris Treatment Plant, the Bloor Street Viaduct, and the Hearn Power Station. All of which have made up the architectural fabric of Toronto’s character.

Of course, this place isn’t just pretty. It’s got a significant function too. The site will house a facility that serves as a stormwater reservoir and treatment plant.

It’ll aid in the goal to prevent flooding and to ensure pollutants are removed from water being discharged into Lake Ontario. This is all some pretty stellar stuff for the environment.

The site is already garnering quite a bit of attention for its innovation. The Cherry St Storm Water Management Facility was just named one of “10 Striking Architecture Projects Shaping Design in 2021” by Azure Magazine. Not too shabby!

The project is set to complete construction in March 2021, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on that. It’s one of many amazing upgrades hitting our town.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
