This crazy steep tram over the Fraser River is BC’s very own ‘Hell’s Gate’

Looking for a fun day trip idea? Well then, we’ve got a great suggestion. Turns out, there’s a tram that will show you BC’s very own ‘Hell’s Gate’. As one of the steepest trams in North America, the Hell’s Gate Airtram is an easy choice for anyone looking for a fun fall activity.

Located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, the tram offers fantastic views of the rugged side of the province. In fact, you start on the Cascade Mountain Range and end on the Coast Pacific Mountain Range. We can’t think of any other tourist attraction offering 2 mountain ranges in one go.

In addition to the stunning views, the tram also offers insight into the history of the area. Famed for the travels of one Simon Fraser (hence all the Fraser related names), the valley was frequented by explorers, gold miners, indigenous communities, and railway workers.

And for the conspiracy theories out there, here’s a fun little factoid. The Hell’s Gate Airtram opened way back in 1971. Guess what else happened that year? The Gates of Hell were opened in Turkmenistan. Coincidence? You can be the judge when you visit.

Have fun this fall, folks!
