Converting old movie theatres into fully immersive climbing facilities… it’s an oddly specific niche, but Basecamp Climbing has filled it. First it was the Metro Cinema on Bloor Street, and now they’ll be taking over what was formerly the Toronto Underground Cinema (and before that the Gold Harvest Cinema). So yeah, repurposing old movie theatres is kinda their thing.
Coming soon to Queen and Spadina, there will be another climbing gym for all you rock-climbing enthusiasts out there. Get your chalk and your harness cause, you’ve got some walls to scale. Also, bring bandaids for our rips. We’re thin-skinned still.

Because of the conversion, some of the theatre items will be available for purchase. So film and theatre lovers listen up, cause there will be stage lights and over 600 theatre chairs up for grabs. Random but cool!
The opening date of the gym has not been announced yet, but you can sign up for updates here. In the meantime, you can always visit their Bloor Street location! Catch us flailing around on an auto belay.
