This Calgary-based game is the ultimate virtual first date activity

Dating in 2021 is a strange business. Once you think you’ve found your perfect (for now) match on one of the many dating apps, what are you supposed to do to get to know each other on a deeper level? Sure you can go for a walk, but conversations tend to get lost behind a mask… not to mention privacy concerns. For this reason, Calgary programmer Eduard Anghelescu developed Zumidate, an interactive platform meant to help people open up, have fun and make a connection.

Zumidate was developed in light of all of the COVID craziness when human interaction became more important than almost ever before.

So how does it work?

Zumidate is incredibly easy and requires hardly any set-up time or downloads. All you have to do is open a video chat in another window and either share screens or enter your unique ‘room code’. Roll the dice and work through ice breakers as well as easy to more difficult prompts.

Since January when it launched, they’ve already added 81 questions many of which were inspired by the well-reviewed New York Times article ’36 Questions to Fall in Love,’ with more to come.

Heck, maybe something will come of it! This might just lay the groundwork for a long-term thing!
