As Halloween night rapidly approaches, the city is coming to life (or should we say, afterlife), with spooky activities and immersive shows. And if you’re looking for something more casual to enjoy over the upcoming week, we’ve got you covered too. From Hocus Pocus in Concert to the Vancouver Writers Festival, here are 11 of the best things to do in Vancouver this week (Oct. 20-24).
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Hocus Pocus in Concert Live, adapting the beloved 1993 film following the misadventures of the comical Sanderson sisters.

If you’re looking for a spooky season favourite for the whole family to enjoy, look no further than Burnaby Village Museum. Its signature Haunted Village experience runs for five days this October and brings terrifying legends from across the globe to life.

The Latin American Heritage Month Festival 2025, produced by Latincouver and presented by Don Chendo, celebrates the diversity, art, and traditions of Latin America across Vancouver and Burnaby. Running from Oct. 14 to Nov. 2, this year’s festival features over 30 cultural events, including music, dance, art exhibitions, workshops, and the Day of the Dead celebrations at Granville Island and Burnaby.

Originally written in 1958, this one-act play launched the career of Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee, and over 60 years later, his work showcasing inequality and fractured human interaction is back onstage. Set in New York’s Central Park, The Zoo Story follows an encounter between Peter, a comfortable executive, and Jerry, a dishevelled outsider desperate to make a human connection.

The 38th annual Vancouver Writers Fest is coming up next week, and there are 87 free and ticketed events to check out between Oct. 20 and Oct. 26, 2025. Get ready to immerse yourself in a stellar lineup of authors, literature, poetry, and ideas spanning across cultures and institutions.

This 90-minute comedy show turns Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale into a comical, Gen Z-style retelling of Count Dracula’s story. If you’re looking for something Halloween-themed but still leans into comedy, this is a great show to add to your itinerary this week.

Vancouver’s scariest Halloween experience is back at the PNE, complete with seven haunted houses, terrifying rides and attractions, and roaming entertainment that is sure to knock your socks off. Weekdays are a great time to get ahead of the crowds that are sure to attend over the weekend!

This year’s Burnaby Halloween Festival is completely transforming the city until Oct. 31 into the ultimate spooky destination, with over 20 events to choose from for all ages.

From Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025, you can step into a transformed forest at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and enjoy the spooky vibes. With glowing lights, creepy decor, pumpkins, and haunted woodland creatures coming to life at night, you’ll be able to see a whole different side of this famous suspension bridge.
