10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (February 3-7)

It’s a new month, and there are plenty of reasons to brave the snow in Vancouver this week. From this year’s PuSh Performing Arts Festival to a dumpling festival, to warming up with some new hot chocolate features, here are 10 of the best things to do in Vancouver this week (February 3-7).

PuSh Festival International Performing Arts Festival

One of Canada’s top performing arts festivals is back in Vancouver, and there’s a ton on the roster in terms of events. This week, check out the surreal frozen realm of De Glace, an intimate cabaret show at Please! Beverage Co., a theatrical performance of poetry called The Geometry of Lives, and much more.

Dine Out East Van Dumpling Fest 

As part of this year’s Dine Out festival, the East Van Dumpling Fest is back this Wednesday with delicious bites like Italian gnocchi, Japanese gyoza, Mexican empanadas, Nepalese momos, and Ukrainian dumplings, for starters. Guests are guided to multiple restaurants to indulge in tasting plates filled with hot dumplings from around the globe.

Youth Fountain with BOGUES, Tiger Really & Cloud Sick

Rock band Youth Fountain is performing alongside BOGUES, Tiger Really & Cloud Sick at Fox Cabaret this week.

Mount Pleasant Sip & Shop 

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, the Mount Pleasant BIA is hosting another fun Sip & Shop event with discounts at participating Main Street shops (between 7th and 17th Avenue) and warm beverages to enjoy while you support local businesses.

La Poutine Week

Speaking of food, La Poutine Week is still on in Vancouver, and you can indulge in three poutine creations: The Aquarium’s Slow Braised Short Rib Poutine, Thai Express’ Thai Poutine, and Blaze Gourmet’s Crispy Chicken Poutine.

Tame Impala Night 

Get ready for a night of pure sonic bliss as we dive into the world of Tame Impala. Featuring dancefloor anthems and hypnotic tracks from artists like Tame Impala, Daft Punk, Flume, MGMT, and Justice, this event is your gateway to a kaleidoscopic journey of sound.

Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival 

The beloved Vancouver Hot Chocolate Fest is back in the city, and this year’s participating spots have crafted some scrumptious sips of cocoa – many accompanied by a bite of dessert. And starting this week, some have introduced new hot cocoa features, available up until Valentine’s Day!

Lunar New Year at the Met

The Met is hosting a traditional Lion Dance through the Grand Court, as well as various cultural workshops in collaboration with the Chinese Canadian Museum this weekend. This includes Chinese lantern-making and other family-friendly activities!

Shipyards Skate Plaza 

Speaking of ice skating, you can soon lace up at the Shipyards’ popular skate plaza until mid-March, 2025.

Snowshoeing at Cypress Mountain

With snow on the ground in Vancouver, now’s a great time to head to the mountains for a wintry snowshoeing adventure. Cypress has a great amount of nordic trails to explore this season with amazing views to reward your journey.
