These Canadian universities could give you the best chance at landing a job

Finding a job as a new grad can be a tough journey, but these schools could give you a leg up over the competition. A new ranking of graduate employability says these 10 Canadian universities are among the world’s best.

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings for 2022 have revealed which universities are producing the most employable graduates based on the workplace skills that students get to learn.

The schools on the list stand out for their “ability to produce graduates with the ‘soft skills’ required for the modern workplace,” the ranking says. They’re considered among the best-placed schools to help you succeed in your post-graduation job hunt.

The universities are given scores out of 100 based on various categories, including graduate employment rate, employer-student connections and employer reputation. The only school to receive a perfect score is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

We’re not at all surprised to see that the University of Toronto ranked the highest of any Canadian university, landing in 21st place with a score of 89.5. U of T has consistently been ranked one of the best universities in the world, so it’d definitely make a good impression on a resume.

Not too far behind is the University of Waterloo in 24th place, with a graduate employment rate of 86.2 and an overall score of 88.7. Western University came in 43rd place with a score of 73.8.

Only two other schools were named in the world’s top 100 ranking — McMaster University in 81st place and the University of Alberta in 99th place.

Other Canadian universities landed further down the list, including Queen’s University, the University of Calgary, Université de Montréal, Université Laval, and Carleton University. You can find out exactly where these schools landed here.
