We all know that the past year-plus has been really rough. But despite all that, people still find ways to be happy. And as it turns out some places are way happier than others. So while things in the United States might seem really rough sometimes, we’re actually one of the happiest countries in the world.
Despite the pandemic, police violence, and turbulent election, the United States landed amongst the top 20 happiest countries in the world. In fact, we came in at 14th place. We were happier than Canada and just behind Ireland. And unsurprisingly, the top 3 happiest countries were Finland, Iceland, and Denmark.
The results are from the World Happiness Report and the data was collected through a worldwide poll. And this was conducted by the research firm Gallup. Basically, the poll combines a respondent’s life evaluation with positive and negative emotions they’ve experienced that year. However, this year was a bit different as the poll was only conducted for 1 year instead of the usual 3.
Even with some imperfections, the data is still pretty interesting. And if you’d like to learn more about the World Happiness Report and the United States ranking you can click here.
