The Toronto International Film Festival returns to in-person celebrations this fall

Film fans, we’ve got great news! The city’s biggest cinema event, the Toronto International Film Festival, just announced they’ll be returning to an in-person festival this fall. After a scaled-back hybrid version of TIFF last year, in-theatre screenings are more than welcome.

The 46th annual Toronto International Film Festival will take place over the typical 10-day stretch in September. This year they’ve got over 100 titles lined up, including exciting picks like Last Night in Soho (dir. Edgar Wright), Le Bal Des Folles (dir. Mélanie Laurent), Benediction (dir. Terence Davies), and many more. The festival just released their first 12 titles, which you can find right here.

Of course, the big attraction this year is the World Exclusive IMAX Special Event screening of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. The highly-anticipated film has had its release delayed multiple times throughout the pandemic, but will finally see the light of day soon. You’ll be able to catch this insane IMAX event at the Cinesphere Theatre.

So, there you have it folks! So far the festival has confirmed in-person screenings at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Roy Thompson Hall, Princess of Wales Theatre, and Festival Village at Ontario Place. We’ll also see a return of the drive-in festival movie, with screenings set to take place at the Visa Skyline Drive-in, RBC Lakeside Drive-In, and the West Island Open Air Cinema.

Tickets will begin going on sale on June 30th, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! You stay on top of that by following the key festival dates right here.
