Disney’s The Lion King is looking for young actors in Toronto & here’s how to audition

Disney’s The Lion King is coming to Toronto very soon but before the show can hit the stage, they’re hosting a casting call in search of young Nala and Simba. Here’s what you need to know.

The new production of Disney’s The Lion King begins at the Princess of Wales Theatre on November 2, 2024.

According to Mirvish Productions, Toronto will be the first city in North America to have a second sit-down production of the musical.

Just this past February, the team held casting calls for dancers in Toronto but now they need a young Nala and Simba.

Who are they looking for?

The open-call auditions are searching for children aged nine to 12, female and male, who can sing, dance, and act. No performance experience is necessary.

For Young Simba and Nala, the casting call states it is looking for a young actor/singer with natural talent, charm and charisma. The actor must be able to move well and hold the stage on their own with confidence and truth. They must be between 52″ 57″ in height.

When is the audition & where will it be held?

Open call auditions for roles of Young Simba and Young Nala will be held on May 11th, 2024 at the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre. Sign-in begins at 9 AM.

According to production, parents or guardians must stay at the audition site at all times and be prepared to wait.

What do I need to audition?

Those auditioning must be ready to sing “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King”. Make sure to bring a picture and resume, stapled together, to the audition.

If you’re unable to attend in person, you can send in a video of your audition.

When filming, production asks that you film horizontally and have good lighting and clear sound.

“At the beginning of your video, please include a slate with your name, height, age, full body pan (head to toe) and location. Also, attach your picture and resumé to your submission,” shares the team.
