Gear up to get your funny fancy tickled folks! After its massive success last year, Trixstar LIVE’s the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is returning to Calgary for its second installment this August. And this time, it has gotten bigger, better and unsurprisingly more local.
The 2-day comedy extravaganza will go down at Prince’s Island Park on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th, 2023. And here’s everything you need to know about this helluva laugh riot—
The line-up this year is pretty impressive and just as inclusive. Day 1 will see queer performers headlined by hairstylist and grooming guru of Netflix’s Queer Eye, Jonathan Van Ness. Can you believe?!
Taking the stage next will be Drag stars, Monét X Change and Priyanka, ready to werk and fresh off RuPaul’s Drag Race. The night will also feature local performers Karla Marx and DJ MollyFi.
Dropping some serious punches on Day 2 will be comedian & podcast prodigy Andrew Schulz alongside Annie Lederman, DJ Kav and more to come.
Trixstar LIVE is known to put up events that truly make an impact on people and communities. In addition to uplifting spirits with a generous dose of humour and fresh air, part of the proceeds will also be donated to local charities.
Proceeds from August 26th will go towards Queer Accessible Spaces, a fund created to support queer venues, spaces, and events, to become accessible to all people in our community. And a portion of proceeds from August 27th will go to The Mustard Seed, a non-profit caring for homeless and poverty-stricken people.
Extending its local support, the festival will also host a 50/50 draw. Proceeds from the draw will be donated to Easter Seals Alberta’s Camp Horizon, which provides individuals with disabilities and medical conditions with life-changing outdoor camp experiences.
Like last year, there will be a VIP Reserved seating area which, obviously, will be closest to the stage. In addition to being up close to the stage, the VIP Reserved area will have table seating, table-side service, a premium drinks menu (with light snacks) and an early entrance. Pretty neat, eh?
The good news is that tickets— both VIP and General— to the fest are finally on sale. The less good news is that they are selling out fast, especially the VIP tickets (‘cause limited seating). So, head over to the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival website below and grab your tix right away.
