As you might remember, Seattle has a brand new tunnel boring machine for another crazy tunnel project. And of course, that machine needs a good name. So the City of Seattle had Seattleites come together to submit names and now the contest is down to the final 5.
Now we have to say these names are much better than Bertha. Although that is a hardy name for a hardy machine. But this go around the top 5 out of 1,200 names are Daphne, Molly the Mole, Boris the Plunger, Sir Digs-A-Lot, MudHoney. See not too shabby for a city that’s notoriously bad at naming things.

While MudHoney is probably our favorite due to the reference to the iconic rock band, Sir Digs-A-Lot is a close second. If we were betting, we’d put our money on Sir Digs-A-Lot, it’s a great name and a nice play on another local icon. But who knows, we’ll find out soon enough.

We honestly can’t wait to see what the city chooses and wish our city’s new tunnel boring machine well.JTNDZGl2JTIwaWQlM0QlMjJtb2JpbGUtYWQtb25seSUyMiUzRSUwQSUzQyUyMS0tJTIwU2VhdHRsZSUyMC0lMjBNb2JpbGUlMjAtLSUzRSUwQSUzQ2lucyUyMGNsYXNzJTNEJTIyYWRzYnlnb29nbGUlMjIlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBzdHlsZSUzRCUyMmRpc3BsYXklM0FibG9jayUzQndpZHRoJTNBMzIwcHglM0JoZWlnaHQlM0E1MHB4JTNCJTIyJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwZGF0YS1hZC1jbGllbnQlM0QlMjJjYS1wdWItNTUyMTg1Njk1NTQ5NzQ1NiUyMiUwQSUyMCUyMCUyMCUyMCUyMGRhdGEtYWQtc2xvdCUzRCUyMjE2MjcxNzI5NDclMjIlM0UlM0MlMkZpbnMlM0UlMEElM0MlMkZkaXYlM0U=
