Calgary’s newest luxury hotel is officially ‘Rainbow Registered’

Some people prioritize a continental breakfast or thread count when looking for a place to stay and while subtle luxuries can take a trip from good to great, it’s important to feel welcomed and safe no matter where you’re coming from or who you love.

Luckily, for those who aren’t sure if they’ll truly feel at home while away from their own, Canada has a growing number of Rainbow Registered businesses, like the newly accredited Dorian Hotel which opened its doors last year.

Given to those that have been deemed 2SLGBTQI+ friendly, this country-wide program serves as a guide for those looking to support organizations, restaurants, museums, spas, venues and shops that actively working to provide a better experience for customers and staff regardless of their sexual identity.

As of this week, Calgary’s new (and chic) Dorian Hotel has joined a list of accredited destinations that also includes accommodations such as The Residence Inn by Mariott, The Hyatt Regency, and the Westley Hotel.

“Through artistic nods and subtle details, The Dorian is designed as a tribute to the life and works of Oscar Wilde,” the hotel explained in an email to Curiocity.

“In 1895 Wilde was persecuted for his sexuality, and today The Dorian is committed and proud to be a safe and welcoming space for everyone while honouring Wilde’s zest for life and making it a reality.”
