A charming new hotel just opened in Ontario’s favourite ski town

The slopes are officially open in Ontario, and that means a weekend getaway to Blue Mountain is in order. Just in time for ski season, The Dorchester Hotel is now welcoming guests in the heart of Collingwood.

The boutique hotel has both a modern and historic feel — that’s because the building itself dates back to the late 1800s.

It was originally a bustling hotel before the suites were converted into apartments.

Owners Tammy and Chris Millsap took over the heritage building in 2021 with a vision to revive the past with present-day sophistication.

Eighteen months later, the couple brought The Dorchester Hotel to life.

Situated on the main street of downtown Collingwood, the hotel’s location is one of its most attractive features.

You’ll find an array of restaurants, cafes, and specialty shops within walking distance, and Blue Mountain Village is a short drive away.

The hotel consists of 30 elegant rooms, each of which is equipped with all the spoils of an upscale hotel.

That includes full kitchens and kitchenettes, free-standing tubs, large windows, and the most comfortable beds you’ll ever lay on.

There are many thoughtful touches throughout, including luxurious bath products and in-room record players for cozy apres-ski tunes.

Guests have keyless access to their room and the hotel’s rear entrance through a secure link sent to their phones — folks in the 1800s definitely didn’t enjoy that kind of convenience.

Later this year, The Dorchester will also open its own restaurant and bar. More details to come, so stay tuned.
