The Distillery Winter Village opens in Toronto this week & here’s what to expect

The Distillery Winter Village will light up Toronto with a more ‘intimate, elevated event’ starting this week. It’s the new identity of what was once The Toronto Christmas Market but don’t worry, the new event will be just as special, if not more. So let’s get into some details about just what you can expect this year.

To kick things off on November 18th, visitors can enjoy a ceremonial tree lighting event featuring a 55-foot tall Silver Fir Christmas Tree in Trinity Square. The tree will come to life with 60,000 twinkling lights, over 600 giant decorative ornaments, and 2 km of garland. It’s well worth checking out if you’re looking to experience both a festival atmosphere and see some holiday lights. But keep in mind you will need tickets to attend.

The Experience

Enjoy decorations like 7’ tall snow people, 11’ tall LED stars, a holly wall, Santa’s sleigh, the iconic LOVE Locks wall, and Big Heart lit up for the holiday season. While you walk around snack on eats and get some holiday shopping done with the option of complimentary gift-wrapping service from December 1st-23rd. You can also snap a selfie with Santa, purchase your Christmas Tree, and support initiatives like SickKids Brave List and The Salvation Army Largest Kettle.

The Vendors

Similar to years past you can shop from 75+ local merchants as well as new seasonal vendor cabins. These cabins offer uniquely curated seasonal items and gifts perfect for friends and family. Between the shopping options, you’ll find clothing, home goods, jewelry, self-care items, art, and more.

The Food

You can dine at both permanent restaurants and 12 new and exciting food cabins. These cabins offer a wide variety of items ranging from raclette, schnitzel, doughnuts, jerk chicken, and much more. You can also check out the Archeo sommelier and mixology experience, Naughty or Nice bar, Cluny light tunnel bar, El Catrin bar, and the Tree lot bar.
