Welcome to Calgary’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s happening, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. From new openings to events and everything in between, consider this your go-to for the highlights you’ll actually want to know. Or, let’s be real… so you’re the one sending the link first!
Let’s get into it.
Chance the Rapper is coming to Calgary for Stampede, and honestly, this one’s a big deal. He’ll be performing at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino this summer, and people are already talking about it.
With Stampede already being one of the biggest times of the year for the city, adding a major artist like Chance really takes things to the next level.
Presale starts on Wednesday, April 8, and if you miss it, the general sale opens on Friday, April 10, 2026. Either way, you’ll want to be ready.
Okay, this one has officially made waves beyond Canada.
Pizza Hut just launched its new hot dog stuffed-crust pizza, and it’s exactly what it sounds like — a pizza with hot dogs baked into the crust.
It’s definitely one of those menu items that gets people talking, and was even featured on Saturday Night Live, where Colin Jost joked during the Weekend Update, “Hey Canada. our culture is not your costume.”
I might be sticking to regular pizza for now, but I do love how creative things are getting. It’s bold, and sometimes that’s all you need.
The City of Calgary’s Branching Out program is back, and it’s basically your chance to score a free tree for your yard to help grow the city’s tree canopy.
After completing a quick “Right tree, Right Location” module, you can sign up when your quadrant opens, but don’t wait too long because these trees usually go pretty fast.
I’m already a big soft-serve ice cream fan, and when you add cereal into the mix? That’s when things start to get serious. Tat’s Treats just opened up in Marda Loop, serving cereal-infused soft serve that hits the perfect mix of nostalgia and fun.
Some of the standouts? The Gold Rush with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, toffee crunch. and vanilla cake, or In the Loop packed with Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, KitKat, and marshmallow.
Safe to say this spot is getting added to my list.
Calgary Wild FC is back for their home opener on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at McMahon Stadium, taking on the Montréal Roses.
Watching women in sports always brings such great energy. The talent is unreal, and it feels great to support something that deserves the spotlight.
Well, that’s it for now, Calgary! We’ll be back next week with more updates, events, and additions to your plans, so stay tuned.
