Well, folks, Seattle’s downtown is changing and has been changing for years. So while we’re used to seeing a boom of construction, this year has obviously been different. On that note, the 38-story 2+U office tower in Seattle has been sold for an ungodly sum as investor Skanska divests.
The 2+U office tower, which is being constructed on Second Avenue between Union and University streets in downtown Seattle, has been sold in the sale of two Seattle office buildings totaling almost $1.3 billion. Which is pretty dang crazy when you really think about it. So what this means is that the building will now be owned by South Korean financial group Hana Alternative Asset Management. And we’re not sure what the future of the space holds.

Because even with the vaccine roll-out, we assume that working from home will kind of become the new normal. We can’t imagine going back into offices for a while, let alone a skyscraper office. But hey, we’re not in the business of predicting future business movements so we’ll leave that up to Skanska and Hana.
Currently, the major tenants that will be in the building include Indeed.com, Dropbox, an Italian eatery from Seattle restaurateur Ethan Stowell Tavolàta, and a few others.
