This iconic tree lighting festival near Vancouver is making a massive return AND it’s free

Try as you may but you can’t deny that the City of Surrey knows how to do the holidays right. They’ve done so in the past. And they are at it yet again with the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival 2022.

That’s right folks! The festival is back again, only this year they seemed to have upped their game. And boy, are we glad!

So, there will, of course, be the gigantic 60-feet Christmas tree that’s iconic to the Surrey Civic Plaza come holiday season. Then there are other light displays to blow your mind away. Think enchanted tunnels, installations and more.

When you’ve had your fill of the dazzle, they’ve got tons to keep you entertained too. Expect choirs, dance battles, DJs, comedy, a magician, a ballet performance of The Nutcracker, rides for you and the lil’ ones and more. And the young’uns can also get photos taken with Santa.

Oh, and there is a holiday market to give your holiday shopping a kickstart. You’ll find a variety of cool stuff by local artisans to snag.

Long story short, the festival has all the holiday classics to get you in the spirit and start making fun memories. Not that we are surprised. It is, after all, one of the largest free festivals in Metro Vancouver.

Best of all— it’s absolutely free! That’s free entertainment, free parking, free rides. Told ya, there’s no beating the City of Surrey when it comes to festivities and celebration.

The Surrey Tree Lighting Festival will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Civic Plaza from 12 PM – 8 PM.

And if you think we sound a bit too excited about it, that’s because we are. Looking forward to seeing you there, peeps!
